Glossary
Common Age of Empires II terms in plain words.
- Boom
- Playing for economy first: many villagers and early eco upgrades, defending minimally.
- Drush
- A dark-age rush: militia attack the opponent before Feudal Age.
- Fast Castle
- Advancing to Castle Age as early as possible, usually to boom or to hit strong units first.
- Flush
- An all-in early attack with Feudal Age units, often with a fast follow-up.
- Idle time
- Time when the Town Center or a production building is not training. Pros keep it near zero.
- Meta
- The strategies and civilizations that are strongest in the current patch.
- Nomad
- A map type where players start without a Town Center and must build one.
- In team games, the player in the middle who supports teammates with resources.
- Push
- A big, committed attack with a large army toward the enemy base.
- Rush
- An early attack meant to hurt the economy before the opponent is ready.
- TC
- Town Center: starts the game, trains villagers and researches key economy upgrades.
- Uptime
- How fast a player reaches the next age after starting the research.
- Wall
- Palisade or stone walls that block access and buy time against rushes.
